LGV C+E (Class1) Tramper Drivers - Bulk Haulage

AW Jenkinson Transport Ltd operate a large fleet of modern vehicles with 15 depots located throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting additional class one tramper drivers to join our team with vacancies available throughout the UK.

This role involves working away from home Monday to Friday with the occassional requirement for working on a Saturday morning, delivering bulk product nationwide.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence with LGV C+E (class1)
  • Minimum 1yr C+E driving experience
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points
  • Valid DCPC & digital tachograph
  • Sound geographical knowledge and understanding of EU drivers hours rules
  • Experience of bulk haulage preferred

Please note, our trailer gantry and fall arrest systems have a 22stone (140kg) maximum weight limit

Transport Manager - Lockerbie

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd has a rare opportunity to join the team as an LGV Driver Trainer to be based at our Lockerbie Depot. The business operates in excess of 700 LGV Vehicles with maintenance workshops over four separate sites and several depots around the country.

The position involves, but is not limited to:

  • Carrying out driving licence checks and undertaking pre-employment driving assessments;
  • Induction and on the job training for new drivers when entering the business;
  • Deliver relevant training and conduct driving appraisals for our existing team of drivers;
  • LGV licence acquisition for trainee drivers where required;
  • Deliver industry and sector specific training for trainee drivers;
  • Deliver and administer in house driver CPC courses across a specified area;
  • Maintain records, collect data, and produce reports to a high standard;

The successful candidate will have a valid LGV licence and experience of bulk transport. Ideally, they will be an NRI or NVDIR qualified driving instructor with excellent presentation skills. A basic teaching qualification, e.g., AET or PTLLS and IOSH Managing Safely Certificate would be an advantage, although training will be provided where necessary.

As the company operates throughout the United Kingdom there will be a requirement to travel when necessary.

Transport Planner - Penrith

Due to the continued growth of the company and planned increase in our LGV fleet to in excess of 1,000 vehicles, we are looking for a Transport Planner to work from our Penrith Office.

The position involves:

  • Managing collections and deliveries, route planning, minimising empty loads and costs
  • Managing drivers and dealing with day-to-day issues including drivers’ hours and health & safety
  • Liaising with customers and drivers, providing high-quality communication
  • Controlling vehicles and drivers over 7 days – i.e. being available to assist drivers by telephone

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of drivers’ hours and tachograph rules and experience of route planning with excellent navigation skills.

Hours of work are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday inclusive. The company offers a competitive remuneration package, including a salary sacrifice pension scheme and life assurance.

LGV Mechanic / Fitter - Lockerbie

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd has a vacancy for an experienced and qualified LGV Mechanic/ Fitter to work at our Lockerbie site, repairing and maintaining LGV units and a varied range of trailers including walking floors, timber cranes, tippers, and curtain sided trailers.

The ideal applicant will have experience of maintaining LGV’s taking into account Health and Safety requirements whilst making the best use of time and resources.

Hours of work are variable but worked during dayshift, Monday to Friday inclusive, with alternate Saturdays. However, depending on workload, there may be a requirement to work additional hours.

Ideally you will come from a time served LGV background having attained appropriate City & Guilds, NVQ or B/TEC qualifications. More importantly you will have experience of working in a Heavy Goods Vehicle workshop.

The Role:

  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, MOT Preparation and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard.
  • Carry out a wide range of defect repairs.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers.
  • Carry out fault diagnostic, troubleshooting and rectification using the manufacturers computer systems.
  • Complete job cards and service sheets in a timely manner.
  • Repair and refurbish company trailers.
  • LGV Licence desired however not essential.
  • Good housekeeping routines to meet H&S requirements.
