This Govermental Scheme is open to anyone over the age of 19 and already in possession of a minimum Category B (car) licence.
After an initial interview, the preliminary phase is run in conjunction with SP Training, a third-party training provider, before progressing to an intensive in-cab training course with A. W. Jenkinson’s in-house Bootcamp team in Penrith.
Once you obtain your C+E licence, you will be considered for full-time employment with A.W Jenkinson Transport Ltd. As a result, you will complete a further period of induction training and work shadowing with our experienced drivers, who operate from the relevant depots which have included Penrith, Runcorn, Chesterfield and Goole among others.
Please note we cannot offer those residing in Scotland a place on the LGV Skills Bootcamp, as funding is not available in Scotland at this time.
The aim of this apprenticeship is to help you learn and develop a range of transferable skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you make the most out of this opportunity. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience.
This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop you over two years to become a respected and successful Transport Planner. You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as a Level 3 Transport Supervisor.
During your apprenticeship you will support the Traffic Team, in an efficient and confidential way, and will learn to:
You will have a minimum of 4 GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and English. You will also need to be competent on Word, including having some Excel knowledge, as well as have some interest in working in a transport and logistics environment. You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop.
