LGV C+E (Class1) Tramper Drivers - Bulk Haulage

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd operate a large fleet of modern vehicles with 17 depots located throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting additional class one tramper drivers to join our team with vacancies available throughout the UK.

This role involves working away from home Monday to Friday with the occassional requirement for working on a Saturday morning, delivering bulk product nationwide.

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd is now looking for full time LGV C+E (flatbed) tramper drivers to be based out of our Lockerbie depot. The role will involve transporting sawn timber, roundwood timber and various palletised products throughout the UK, driving one of our flatbed vehicles.

Fleet Administrator - Grangemouth

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd is looking for a Fleet Administrator to join the team at our Grangemouth depot.

Joining A.W. Jenkinson Transport Limited will provide you with the opportunity to be part of a growing and modernising business. We are continually investing in our fleet and operations to ensure our team have the tools and systems on hand to best service our customers. Hours of work are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, inclusive, but can be discussed during the interview.

Key responsibilities:

  • Keeping accurate records for the Fleet Operations & Maintenance teams
  • Ensuring vehicle files are kept up to date (defects / inspection reports / job cards)
  • Co-ordinating driver absence levels (holidays & sickness)
  • Co-ordinating availability of relief drivers and appropriate cover levels
  • Compiling driver pre-employment documents
  • Generating fleet utilisation reports
  • Communicating directly with drivers & colleagues from all departments

Requirements:

  • Excellent communicator
  • Confident personality
  • Flexible ‘can do’ attitude
  • Good IT skills (excel/word/outlook)
  • Professional manner

Previous experience in a similar role within a Transport environment would be a strong advantage.

Trainee Transport Planners - Penrith

We are now looking for Trainee Transport Planners to join our growing team. We need trainees to join our team in Penrith.

The aim of this apprenticeship is to help you learn and develop a range of transferable skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you make the most out of this opportunity. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience. 

This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop you over 12-18 months to become a respected and successful Transport Planner. You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as a Level 3 Transport Operations Supervisor.

During your apprenticeship you will support the Traffic Team, in an efficient and confidential way, and will learn to:

  • Manage collections and deliveries while taking into account route planning, reducing empty loads, and cost;
  • Manage drivers and deal with day-to-day issues including drivers hours and health & safety;
  • Liaise with customers and drivers to provide high quality communication;
  • Understand customer contracts, rules, penalties etc;
  • Update computer systems with account information, access and egress issues, hold-ups, damage etc.

You will have a minimum of 4 National 5s/GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and English. You will also need to be competent on Word, including having some Excel knowledge, as well as have some interest in working in a transport and logistics environment.

You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop. 

The key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both.

Forward Thinking - Take personal ownership for effectively analysing problems and creating solutions with an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Teamwork - Develop and maintain sound working relationships between all departments to maximise the service we provide our customers.
