We are now looking for Trainee Transport Planners to join our growing team. We need trainees to join our team based in Penrith from September 2025. The aim of this apprenticeship is to help you learn and develop a range of transferable skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you make the most out of this opportunity. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience.
About the role
This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop you over 12-18 months to become a respected and successful Transport Planner. You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as a Level 2 Traffic Operator. During your apprenticeship you will support the Traffic Team, in an efficient and confidential way, and will learn to:

You will have a minimum of 4 National 5s/GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and English. You will also need to be competent on Word, including having some Excel knowledge, as well as have some interest in working in a transport and logistics environment. You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop.

The key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both. Forward Thinking - Take personal ownership for effectively analysing problems and creating solutions with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Teamwork - Develop and maintain sound working relationships between all departments to maximise the service we provide our customers. Communication - Demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.

A.W. Jenkinson is looking for an Apprentice Sales Administrator to join our sales team. The position will be based at our Office at Newton Rigg, Penrith, starting in September 2025.
The successful candidate will have a professional manner, be able to show a high degree of accuracy in their work, have good communication skills, and basic knowledge of Windows and the Microsoft Office suite of programs. The candidate will be required to work through and successfully complete a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship programme, which will last 18 months. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to be able to get themselves to and from our office at Newton Rigg each day.
The successful candidate must have National 5s/GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 4 or above, in Maths and English.
You will be a self-motivated, and enthusiastic individual with a positive, can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team, and willing to learn and develop.
