A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd operate a large fleet of modern vehicles with 17 depots located throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting additional class one tramper drivers to join our team with vacancies available throughout the UK.

This role involves working away from home Monday to Friday with the occassional requirement for working on a Saturday morning, delivering bulk product nationwide.

Workshop Supervisor – Runcorn

Joining A.W. Jenkinson Transport Limited will provide you with the opportunity to be part of a growing business. We are continually investing in our fleet and operations to ensure our team has the tools and systems on hand to best serve our customers.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Workshop Operative Supervisor to join our team, based at Runcorn.

The ideal applicant will have experience in managing an LGV workshop, taking into account health and safety requirements whilst making the best use of time and resources.

Hours of work are usually 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. However, depending on workload, there may be a requirement to work additional hours or weekends. 

Ideally, you will be a time served Motor Vehicle technician with experience of working in a Heavy Goods Vehicle workshop.

The Role:

  • To ensure all VOSA regulations are followed and that no Prohibitions are issued against our vehicles
  • To ensure all vehicle testing is carried out and that all testing is appropriate to the type of vehicle, completed within an appropriate timescale and recorded on company systems
  • Ensure stock levels are managed and liaise with suppliers accordingly
  • Good housekeeping routines to meet H&S requirements

Skills:

  • Transport Manager CPC required
  • A Class C+E Licence would be an advantage
  • NVQ level 3 or BTEC LGV Mechanic/Engineering Qualification

HGV Fleet Maintenance Supervisor - Runcorn

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Runcorn. Reporting directly to management, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day running of our busy workshop, ensuring the highest standards of vehicle maintenance, compliance, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on role that requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a sound technical understanding of HGV fleet maintenance. The successful candidate will oversee workshop operations while managing the maintenance requirements of our Runcorn-based fleet vehicles. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Runcorn workshop.
  • Supervise workshop staff, allocating workloads and ensuring productivity targets are achieved.
  • Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs), servicing, repairs, and MOT preparation.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and reliability.
  • Manage vehicle downtime and prioritise repairs to meet operational requirements.
  • Liaise with drivers, transport operations, suppliers, and external contractors.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate maintenance records in accordance with DVSA and operator licence requirements.
  • Ensure all workshop activities comply with health and safety legislation.
  • Control workshop stock levels, parts ordering, and supplier relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, vehicle availability, and cost control.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to workshop technicians and fleet operators. 

Requirements:

  • Experience of managing and operating a planned preventative maintenance system for an HGV fleet.
  • Strong knowledge of HGV maintenance practices, DVSA regulations, and operator licence compliance.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced transport operation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Good IT skills and experience using fleet maintenance systems.
  • HGV Technician qualifications (Level 3 or equivalent) desirable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence ( HGV Class 1 - desirable).
  • Transport Manager CPC desirable but not essential.

  • SharePoint administration and management.

Administrator - Lockerbie

We are looking for an Administrator to provide support to our busy team, based at our Lockerbie site.

The successful candidate will need to be able to work under pressure and to deadlines, have good attention to detail, be able to communicate effectively and provide accurate information whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Apprentice Planner - Lockerbie

Apprenticeship Opportunity

We are now looking for a Trainee Transport Planner to join our growing team based in Lockerbie.

The aim of this apprenticeship is to help you learn and develop a range of transferable skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you make the most out of this opportunity. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience. 

About the role

This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop you over 12-18 months to become a respected and successful Transport Planner. You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as Level 7 Logistics Operations.

During your apprenticeship you will support the Traffic Team, in an efficient and confidential way, and will learn to:

  • Manage collections and deliveries while taking into account route planning, reducing empty loads, and cost;
  • Manage drivers and deal with day-to-day issues including drivers hours and health & safety;
  • Liaise with customers and drivers to provide high quality communication;
  • Understand customer contracts, rules, penalties etc;
  • Update computer systems with account information, access and egress issues, hold-ups, damage etc.

What you need to apply

You will have a minimum of 4 National 5s/GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and English. You will also need to be competent on Word, including having some Excel knowledge, as well as have some interest in working in a transport and logistics environment.

You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop. 

What you need to succeed

The key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both.
