LGV C+E (Class1) Tramper Drivers - Bulk Haulage

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd operate a large fleet of modern vehicles with 17 depots located throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting additional class one tramper drivers to join our team with vacancies available throughout the UK.

This role involves working away from home Monday to Friday with the occassional requirement for working on a Saturday morning, delivering bulk product nationwide.

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence with LGV C+E (class1)
  • Minimum 1yr C+E driving experience
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points
  • Valid DCPC & digital tachograph
  • Sound geographical knowledge and understanding of EU drivers hours rules
  • Experience of bulk haulage preferred

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd is expanding the professional driver team and now recruiting additional cab-hoppers for LGV C+E tramping work.

These are full-time positions with guaranteed weekly income, consistent work year‑round, with vacancies available at the following depots:

We’re looking for reliable, experienced Class 1 drivers who enjoy varied work and the freedom of cab‑hopping. As a Cab Hopper, you will cover driver holidays each week across our modern fleet.

Trainee Transport Planners - Penrith

We are now looking for Trainee Transport Planners to join our growing team. We need trainees to join our team in Penrith.

The aim of this apprenticeship is to help you learn and develop a range of transferable skills and potential in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will be supported by a friendly team and experienced mentors who will invest time and effort in helping you make the most out of this opportunity. You will be responsible for succeeding at work and at college, in an environment that will be challenging but also one that will enable you to enjoy your learning experience. 

This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop you over 12-18 months to become a respected and successful Transport Planner. You will obtain a nationally recognised apprenticeship as a Level 3 Transport Operations Supervisor.

During your apprenticeship you will support the Traffic Team, in an efficient and confidential way, and will learn to:

  • Manage collections and deliveries while taking into account route planning, reducing empty loads, and cost;
  • Manage drivers and deal with day-to-day issues including drivers hours and health & safety;
  • Liaise with customers and drivers to provide high quality communication;
  • Understand customer contracts, rules, penalties etc;
  • Update computer systems with account information, access and egress issues, hold-ups, damage etc.

You will have a minimum of 4 National 5s/GCSE qualifications at standard grade C/grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and English. You will also need to be competent on Word, including having some Excel knowledge, as well as have some interest in working in a transport and logistics environment.

You will be a driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive and can-do attitude, happy to work as part of a team and willing to learn and develop. 

The key to success for this apprenticeship is to have the ability to balance time between studies and work to ensure success in both.

Teamwork - Develop and maintain sound working relationships between all departments to maximise the service we provide our customers.

LGV Traffic Controller - Penrith

A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd is seeking an experienced LGV Traffic Controller to join our busy Transport Office in Penrith.

This is a full-time, fully office-based role, working 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, inclusive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and managing collections and deliveries for bulk and palletised loads
  • Producing efficient route plans to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise empty running and costs
  • Ensuring full compliance with drivers’ hours, tachograph legislation, and health & safety requirements
  • Liaising professionally with customers, drivers, and internal teams to maintain excellent communication
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure operational targets and service levels are met

We’re keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in an LGV traffic or transport planning role for bulk and or palletised operations
  • A strong working knowledge of drivers’ hours and tachograph regulations
  • Excellent route planning, organisational, and navigation skills
  • A calm, practical approach to problem solving in a busy environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
